In a much-needed spiritual response to the world’s battle with the global pandemic of the coronavirus, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has announced that it will join the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops on May 1 to renew each nation’s consecration to the Blessed Mother.

What a beautiful response to this crisis we are facing! We agree with Archbishop José H. Gomez of Los Angeles and president of the USCCB, who said, “This will give the Church the occasion to pray for Our Lady’s continued protection of the vulnerable, healing of the unwell, and wisdom for those who work to cure this terrible virus.”

All are encouraged to virtually attend the liturgy with the prayer of re-consecration that will take place on Friday, May 1 at 3:00 pm EDT (2pm Central, 1pm Mountain, 12pm Pacific). The event will be available on the USCCB’s social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
